Lee Jeans 125th birthday

Longevity is defined as 'a great duration of life', and in the world of fashion, you can't apply that word to many brands. You have your classic no brainers, like Hermes and Louis Vuitton that have withstood the test of time. But there's one brand that you might not think of  Lee Jeans. First produced in 1889, Lee Jeans have just celebrated their 125th birthday, making them older than some sacred fashion houses like Chanel and Prada. But there is absolutely nothing old-fashioned about these guys.

Still designing with the cool, hip and edgy crowd in mind, you can be forgiven for being shocked at the brand being over a century old! And they sure don't show it having hosted an exclusive party in Luxe studios to celebrate. With champagne flowing and a crazy decor scheme, the place was packed with the coolest kids in Sydney.

Blue Mountains

Sometimes it's easy to forget the natural wonders that are in your backyard. Constantly dreaming about your next exotic European trip makes you ignore the hidden wonders that are only a short drive out of Sydney. But some of the worlds best natural wonders are in Australia and the majority of us never leave the hustle and bustle of the city. So I've decided to explore more of Australia, with plans to travel to the Kimberley in Western Australia, snorkel with turtles in the Great Barrier Reef and seeing Uluru all being added to my already extensive travelling list.

But on this one particular rest less day I needed to do something different and after a brief call to Lola to see if she was available we were in a car riding down the freeway. An hour and a half out of the CBD and you are in a completely different world, a place that would make your 10 year old self gleam with joy. We were spoilt with choices to where to go but we decided to go chasing after waterfalls. Contrary to what the TLC girls are saying, go chase waterfalls, don't stick to the same rivers and lakes that you know because then you will never live.

Song for the Mute

Song for the Mute kicked off the end of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2014 with a wave of smoke and hypnotic, bass pumping music. With a special appearance by US rapper Lupe Fiasco who flew in town especially for this event, Song for the Mute delivered a highly rememberable and amazing runway show.

Song for the Mute was the only label on the schedule to show a purely menswear collection, a breathe of fresh air after a womenswear dominated week. Models conjured out of the smoke with slick back hair daubed with a stripe of white paste down the side wearing a colour palette of greys, whites and blacks. Textured funnel-neck jackets in alpaca wool blends and a cocoon coat in pressed, waxed mohair with trousers rolled up to reveal a glimpse of skin were my favourite items to come down the runway. All in all it was a fantastic show and a perfect way to end the week.

Glamour girls at Galanni

Couture label Galanni made its debut appearance at this year's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. With 10 years experience behind the label, designer duo Lenna and Catherine Vasilas certainly didn't disappoint in delivering beautifully intricate, feminine dresses. The dresses revealed a unique exploration of the feminine silhouette through the use of sculpted metal-work, lace, gems and sexy but classy modern cuts that allowed the viewer a glimpse of some skin. With the vibe of old Hollywood glamour filling the collection, the label certainly showed why they are still in the business after so long.
