700 Photos

I am no photographer. I have no understanding of shutter speed, aperture, ISO or other photography jargon. Thanks to Lola, I don't even have to take half the photos on this blog! But in saying this, I'm attempting to learn and truly embody the stereotypical fashion blogger, DSLR and all. So I thought it was fitting to go and exercise my shooting skills at the Seven Hundred Photo's exhibition in Darlinghurst a few nights ago. The event was held at a hotel where photographers of all levels enter seven different rooms and photograph the unique installations in each one.

Out of the 200 or so photos I took, only 20 seemed to be in focus. Out of the 20 I give you my best 5 shots. Funny enough these were all taken in only two rooms. And if you think they are crap, well, pretend Lola took them.

  1. Your collection of shots is incredible. A budding photographer in our midst! I absolutely love the first photo, you captured the energy so well! :D They're all have a quirky psychedelic feel to em or maybe because I'm smitten by the round sunnies that scream '1960S!' to me. Hope to see more of your lovely work :)

  4. Good start in your photography. I'd like to pick up the camera and take DSLR shots as well, but I definitely understand the difficulty of grasping all of those terminologies. Don't worry, you'll get there - faster than me anyway!

  6. These look GREAT! I wanted to punch my DSLR in the face when we first got together - oh the drama, the dark shots, the blurry shots, the rage, the tears! Lola would be the perfect teacher - you need to milk her for tips!

  7. Oh...a tip - when I first started shooting I'd take a shot on auto so I could see what the camera thougth was best, then I'd try replicating those settings on manual or at least appeture function.

  11. I really like the results, it would probably a bit scary if all 200 shots would be fantastic!

  12. Not bad at all, and even great photographers don't nail 100% of their pictures.
