How to get Street Styled Snapped

As Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Australia looms ever so closer, I thought I would take a moment to discuss the critically important question on the minds of every fashionista, “How do I get street styled snapped?”

With so many street style blogs out there, I am often left confused and dumbfounded when stylish people with obnoxiously large cameras bigger than their heads don’t run after me requesting to take my photo. After many hours wasted wandering the city in the hopes of appearing on a street style blog, I have decided to examine the factors to help my chances of appearing on the interwebs. Factors that don’t include me being naked...

The Phone

The mobile phone is an important tool in your quest to street style stardom. I have no idea why it seems to be such an aphrodisiac for camera wielding people but it's seems to work. Phones to style snappers are like shit to flies. Maybe its because it signals that you’re busy which is obviously the perfect time to take a picture, or maybe they are being sponsored by Apple, who knows. Also it’s important to have the phone near the vicinity of your face or the photographer will just crop it out, brutal I know.

The Car

Getting out of your car, getting into your car, or just being surrounded by cars seems to be a sure way to get your picture snapped up this fashion week. This is probably due to the comical nature of girls in ankle breaking shoes trying to manoeuvre around cars without falling and being run over. Or that its an ample opportunity to take an unflattering photo of you as you struggle to get out of the car. I wonder though, if you get extra brownie points for being photographed in front of a Mercedez Benz.

Crossing the Road

If playing life or death travelling between cars isn’t your cup of tea, you could try the safe boring option of crossing the road at a zebra crossing. But let me tell you, fashion isn’t about playing safe. Even so, this seems to be another favourite with the photographers, probably due to the fact that it is reminisce of the Beatles Abbey Road album cover. To up your chances, wear something bright, colourful or downright weird amongst a sea of commoners. That will definitely get their attention.

The Posse

Being in a posse is a good way of getting a full outfit shot. It also adds a multiplier effect on your chic-ness, kinda like The Cheerleader Effect. I mean, if you're surrounded by beautiful people, it must mean you're beautiful too? Plus it makes you look like you're in a haute couture gang, and everyone knows you don't fuck with gangs.

But now if none of these options help in your quest to being street style snapped, maybe you should just reconsider if being glorified online as the epitome of working it is right for you. Or if you are really determined, try a combination of the listed factors simultaneously!
